New SAMON YECHI Reversible Tote Bags Now Online!...

After lots of development, I have now got a final design for my new reversible tote bags.

Production is now on its way so I thought I'd share a few pics of what you can now buy online at samonyechi.com.

These bags will soon come in different colour ways and fabrics and only a very limited amount of just 5 bags are available to buy in each design. Look out for new colour ways soon!

The outside of the bag is made up from denim for the top half and Nigerian sourced wax print fabric for the base.

On the front of the bag is a denim lined pocket which is personally screen-print and embroidered with a clear dark red acrylic SAMON YECHI label hand stitched on. The straps are made from cotton cord and attach through eyelets.

For the reverse side of the bag, the base fabrics are swapped and there is a smaller pocket on the front which has also been hand screen-print and embroidered, with a smaller red acrylic label attached.

To print the pocket, the base colours are made from running a range of coloured inks through a clear screen using torn paper where the white is to block out the ink. A red and grey linier print is then printed over the top, and then top stitched with a vibrant yellow thread. Because of this free style of printing, each pocket has a different base and is there for unique.

The straps are made from cotton cord and and attach to the bag through gold eyelets and then knotted on the other side. The ends of the cord are finished with a yellow plastic coating to stop any fraying.

I've been developing a new range of handmade iPhone and iPad cases using my trademark SAMON YECHI plastic over the past few weeks.

I am now pleased to say that new handmade SAMON YECHI iPhone and iPad cases are now available to purchase in 3 different colour ways from the website.

The cases are made from a unique plastic created personally by SAMON YECHI which is lined with felt and then has a hand stitched edge to finish.

Back To Plastic: SAMON YECHI iPad cases...

It's been a while since I did any product development with my plastic.

But now after a little break I have started working on a new little project; iPad and laptop cases.

Still early stages, but a few ideas are starting to form for final products.

Heres a little sneak peak of what I've been making so far...

Bath School of Art and Design Website Promotion...

Feature On Home Page Of Tent London

I was recently informed by Kerry Curtis, Head of Bath School of Art and Design, that my bowls have been featured on a photo real on the home page of the Tent London Design Show website.

ZSK Embroidered Pocket Sample...

I started working on a sample for a new SAMON YECHI embroidered pocket tee using the ZSK at Bath School of Art and Design.

Ive got an idea of the patterns I would like to use, now just to play around with colours and pattern orders :)

SAMON YECHI iPad Cases?...

Decided to have a go at making a sample for possible handmade SAMON YECHI laptop cases from the fabric samples I have been working with for the bags. 

Lined with felt for protection and embroidered over the hand screen print, I think they have come out pretty well!

Embroidered Samples...

 i decided to start embroidering over samples to see how it would look and its come out really nicely.

These two samples i turned into little clutch purses but will also be embroidering the pockets for the new tote bags too :)

 

New SAMON YECHI Tote?...

Bar the fact the strap is not yet fastened to the bag, heres a first sample of what some of the new SAMON YECHI totes could look like.

The bag will be reversible with the fabrics switched on the reverse side and a different design of a hand printed and embroidered pocket like the outside.

On each pocket will be a wooden SAMON YECHI label stitched on also.

Fabric Combinations For SAMON YECHI Tote Bags...

I've been playing around with different fabric combinations from samples I have hand screen printed for SAMON YECHI Tote bags...

New SAMON YECHI bags...

Ive recently had some new ideas for making some new one off SAMON YECHI tote style bags.

The panels of the bags are personally screen printed myself and I am thinking of using a knotted strap or something. 

Anyways, heres an idea of what they might possibly look like!...

Today has been a very productive day. I can now say that soon, limited handmade SAMON YECHI combs will soon be available to purchase.

These handmade combs also come in a wax printed fabric sleeve which is also personally handmade by SAMON YECHI.

SAMON YECHI Hand woven Pocket Tee: Colourway Selected!...

After a lot of sample making, playing around with different colours and patterns, I have finally chosen my first colourway for a tee that will be released in the next range!

The t-shirt will be made up of a purple, dark blue and red ribbon woven breast pocket on a heather grey tee.
